Sadly terrorism continues to impact on our society.

2017 has seen several terrible terror incidents unfold throughout the world, especially here in the UK and sadly in our very own city, Manchester.

The need for vigilance and awareness, is ever more. Crowed places are seen as targets to terrorists, and our vigilance needs to be maintained.

Terrorists will seek to use a variety of methods to target we the public, be it using vehicles, hidden devices and perhaps the most feared, individuals who may shoot randomly or even become suicide bombers.

Door supervisors are a key element in deterring and disrupting the threat from terrorism and other crime.

Furthermore night time economy staff come to the aide of those caught up in a terror incidents, as illustrated in Manchester. The selfness goodwill that our city showed at this sad time was the most uplifting feature of what was a terrible atrocity.

Although the main role of door supervisors is to make sure that customers have an enjoyable experience in a safe environment, they are also essential and additional ‘eyes and ears’ for Police, helping to deter incidents of violence, thefts and yes, even terrorism.

NaCTSO has researched and produced Protective Security Advice for Bars, Pubs and Nightclubs (2.4mb pdf) in partnership with the Institute of Licensing, Bar Entertainment and Dance Association (BEDA), British Beer and Pub Association, British Hospitality Association, National Pubwatch and others.
