Official Statements from the Manchester Pub & Club Network

David Perkin
Network Chairman
Manchester Pub & Club Network

The Manchester Pub & Club Network has a very long and successful tradition of working together with all the various authorities, such as the police, licensing and council bodies, to assist us all to ensure that our extremely vibrant and crucial night time economy continues to be a safe and enjoyable experience for all of Manchesters residents and visitors alike.

Our members are a vital part of this great city of ours, and not only do we contribute a massive amount of money into the local economy through our rates, taxes and various licence fees, but we are also collectively a huge employer both directly through our front line staff and of course indirectly through our suppliers and contractors.

By ensuring that our venues are operated correctly and professionally we offer safe and secure environments for our customers, where we can police and monitor what goes on within our premises.

The fact that we have the most legislated against licensed industry in Europe, tied in with the hinderances of cheap supermarket sales and the smoking ban, mean that it is now more important than ever that we stand together as a group and unite to protect, publicise and defend our industry and premises.

Yes the Network is absolutely about a strong healthy partnership working with the police and exchanging information with the licensing and Environmental Health departments. But it's main purpose and priority is to stick up for and support all our members in the running of their businesses, even if this sometimes does mean challenging and confronting the authorities on their procedures or practices.

Please be assured that as Chair I personally, along with the committee, will fight the corner of all our members, and I encourage you to use The Network and it's ties with the legal and council community to your advantage whenever needed. Together we shall continue to build and defend our industry and all our venues.

Manchester's  Pub &Club Network is proud to launch their  new and interactive web site , the new site is an excellent way of sharing information between different agencies operating in the city centre while working in partnership.

I am proud to have been a part of the Manchester Pub and Club Network since its inception 32  years ago and I look forward to many more years to come.  I also Chair the Village Buinsess License Assocation since 2005

Working closely with Greater Manchester Police, Manchester City Council  for  32 years, and other agencies  such as Cityco, Kuits & Licensing Legal solicitors and we are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for the thousands of visitors every week.

By working together we are able to:

  • Reduce the number of alcohol-related assaults and injuries.
  • Work in partnership with the licensed trade to improve the management of licensed premises.
  • Promote the provision of safe and socially responsible drinking.
  • Reduce perceptions of drunkenness, rowdiness and disorder in the night-time economy.
  • Care for, and protect visitors, residents and customers from the issues related to late night entertainment.

We are happy to continue offering support to members of  the Manchester Pub & Club Network, building on a successful and positive history.
